Thank you for this review. It is very helpful. For my commercial work I have the A7iv and A73. For my travel photography I use the Fujifilm Xt5 and the X100F. The Sony A7cR beckons, because I can work with 1 system for both purposes. I'm still in doubt because of the bad news about the EVF. This year I traveled for the first time with my A7iv to Bolivia with the Tamron 28-200. This lens really surprised me.

FYI - Sony doesn't UPDATE firmware updates to work with any IOS updates. So my current version of Mac OS is 14.5, but the updated ONLY supports 11 and 12. And, Sony doesn't care if you can't keep your expensive camera updated to the latest edition. Caveat: You can send it in for REPAIRS and they will gladly update it for you at a great cost and time.

Hi Mark. Great fan of yours. I used your videos to set up my A99ii camera. Planning to move to Sony A1. I intend to use my Sony A mount 500 mm F4 G lens with a A-E adaptor. I was not able to understand the menu settings for AF Micro Adj in Sony A1. In A99 ii this option is under AF3 Menu. Looking forward to your revert. Thanks a lot

I'm exploring street photography with my A6700 using a variety of lenses and beginning to dream about the possibility of a small, light, autofocus 16-35 f2 APS-C lens. It's essentially equivalent to the FE 24-50 f2.8, but in the APS-C format it should be a whole lot smaller, lighter and cheaper. An apperture of f2.8 may be easier to build, but I have 20 and 27mm pancake primes at f2.8. A 24-50 on my A7III would be too big for what I'm after.

Mark - after performing the upgrade, my Network hardware on the A1 was bricked, no WiFi or Bluetooth. Any suggestions or workarounds? From what I hear it’s not an isolated problem, all sorts of reports. I am on 2.02.

Dear, I would like to ask You a question…. I have a Sony camera A7R3- system-version 3.10 and I would like to ask you if the following is possible with this camera with a Sony 85mm F1.8 lens and aperture maybe set on F 5.6. I would like to make a timelapse/interval shooting, let’s say every 3 seconds a shot over a period of 30 seconds (10 shots in total) with myself in the picture walking towards the camera itself on tripod….. with eye-autofocus ON and real time tracking ON… and nobody pressing any button on the camera except myself pressing start and running towards my startpoint … I start walking at 25 meter distance… walk slowly towards the camera and looking into the lens…. After 30 seconds I’ll be at 1 meter distance away in front of the camera….. I’ll be happy with maybe 5 or 6 sharp pictures…. Of the total 10 pics…. I am trying but donot succeed… I cannot find the right settings …. I presume that my 6-year old Sony A7R3 cannot do this…. But…which Sony camera could do this? Maybe the Sony A7R4 or A7R5 or A7CR or… none these… ??? Do I have to switch brands? I try to find answers on the web… but I find nothing in clear detail about this item… Please advise me! Great series. I am actually wondering if it is possible to have the same setting (iso, aperture, shutter speed) when moving from video to photo mode. Background: On a wedding I want to quickly capture photo and video outside with the same settings like 100 iso, approx. 3000 shutter and 1.8 aperture. I know the 180 rule etc. But I want to shoot like this on purpose. Is that possible with a Sony camera?

Sony have many models with each sensor size, every unique model costs them. They could probably rationalise the models per sensor size so models cover more features & use cases within the group. Have a RX100 do everything a 1" vlogger needs.

Your suggested Mk3 updates should be in updated FX30 or maybe a6800 before that. It would be interesting for some to see how they can be used to capture video with remote control: static tripod wirh PZ lenses or; mounted in gimbals; remote control via PC when also using software like OBS; 1080P crop from 4K camera output to allow limited digital pan+tilt & zoom.

I wanted to ask if you know if it's possible to do the following: With ISO or Aperture, half-pressing the shutte to increase exposure to be able to focus properly, then when full-pressing the shutter, lowering back ISO or getting a higher aperture. This I'd really like, since I like to take macro shots, which will later be correctloy exposed with an external flash. I'm new with Sony cameras, I'm cooming from a Pentax and now own a a6700. Please your help here, since it would be really helpful!!!

Its stupid, that they've removed mechanical shutter...I wanted upgrade my ZVE10 original to the mark II, but I am not shure about it now...Is it really bad now for photos?

Yes, the difference is subtle but so is the difference between APSC and Fullframe. So with the "APSC killers" A7Cii and A7Cr being EFCS only, I think people upgrade specifically to get that tiny bit blurrier background compared to their similar sized APSC camera. Yet when they compare their f1.4 APSC primes to their equally sized f1.8 FF primes, the EFCS will make the FF image look even busier than the APSC image. I think this issue is not communicated prominently and people are left wondering why their FF image doesn't look any better than their APSC image, despite having a shallower DOF on paper.

@21:10 chart - FX30 does not have the ZV-E1 Dynamic Active Steady Shot.

What are the advantages of the 300GM to the 400GM (apart from the price)?

I use A7-IV, my main genre where I would like to monetize the work is obviously wildlife, but for some reasons I have to start with sport photography. I read your opinions to some questions down there, but I am now wondering which way should I go, as I suppose stacked sensor is clearly a winner to achiving sharp photos in burst sequence (you said, it's going to be mixed sharp/unsharp with BSI sensor). But now, if we compare the systems, is Stacked sensor for like OM-1 the same quality as for A1/A9III? Because you could choose A7-IV with BSI sensor, and then OM-1 with Stacked sensor (7,8 ms readout), then what would be the benefit for each? Would you go stacked sensor no matter what system? OM-1, Z8.. and so on.. (PS: Bokeh, ISO handling... blah blah blah... --> those info aside.. I just want to talk there about the sensor) I invested a lot to Sony gear, so the choice should be A9-III as it has pre-capture, for wildlife and I could combine it to the sport as it has stacked sensor. But then OM-1 is also having that type of sensor (prrobably MUCH less stickier but still..) for the 33% of the price. It's complicated...
